Director Information Technology Infrastructure

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Responsible for the successful day-to-day operations of all IT business infrastructure systems

Work closely with both the user community and other technology teams in order ensure IT Infrastructure needs of the business are satisfied.

Serve as the organizational leader for the IT Infrastructure team.

Responsible for procurement, maintenance and operations of all IT business infrastructure at Corporate and plant locations.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide leadership to employees, contractors, and partners who support the day-to-day operations and special projects of the infrastructure platform.

2. Management of internal IT Service Desk including people, tools, and processes involved in the submittal and timely resolution of service requests submitted by user base.

3. Tier 1 and Tier 2 technology support for all Cogentrix business infrastructure systems.

4. Recommend suitable technology infrastructure additions, upgrades or removal in order to support the short and long term business and IT strategies.

5. Explore requirements from internal team in order to recommend the most suitable IT infrastructure solutions to support new projects and technologies.

6. Serve as project manager for technical/infrastructure projects and responsible for managing resources and timelines in order to achieve project deliverables.

7. Lead infrastructure assessment/due diligence and integration activities for all acquisitions and divestitures.

8. Evaluate overall IT infrastructure capacity in order to ensure optimal system performance.

9. Identify areas for improvement, develop improvement programs and monitor improvements to increase process efficiency and reduce costs.

10. Manage infrastructure related spend to ensure that departmental spend is at or below assigned budget.

11. Responsible for managing risks relating to infrastructure security, physical security, privacy, and compliance.

12. Drive to reduce number of hours spent on support:

a. Conduct ongoing analysis of key drivers of support requests; and

b. Implement process improvements to address key support drivers.

13. Maintain high level of customer service to user community:

a. Establish and meet service level agreements; and

b. Create mechanism to obtain feedback from users to measure customer satisfaction.

14. Create and maintain partner network to supplement in-house:

a. Network/telecom support;

b. Project specific support; and

c. Acquisition integration support.

15. Manage enterprise information technology risk:

a. Keep all systems current on patches; and

b. Ensure network systems have current firmware and signatures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

2. Ten or more years of related experience with at least five years in management role in an IT environment including Networking, Infrastructure, virtual Infrastructure and Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise systems.

3. Subject matter expertise in data center management, security, networking (LAN, WAN, WLAN), telephony, storage, virtual technologies and cloud IT services.

4. Experience with the following technologies: Microsoft Enterprise Products, Active Directory, VMware, Cisco networking, Palo Alto firewalls and VOIP.

5. Three or more years’ experience managing end-user Service Desk.

6. Three or more years’ experience in IT leadership role.

7. Strong knowledge of the technologies used to support home office and remote locations.

8. Demonstrated experience providing infrastructure leadership in developing detailed designs, solutions and project plans.

9. MCSE, CCNA/CCNP certifications desirable.

10. Experience with vendor selection, vendor management, contract negotiations.

11. Experience with management of IT change control process and workflow.

12. Knowledge of emerging technologies.

13. Strong financial management skills.

14. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

15. Must be able to take initiative and responsibility for projects.

16. Must promote teamwork and collaboration between all departments and locations.

18. The position requires strict observance of confidential matters.
